Anyone of any age and man or woman who is eager can learn how to crochet and/or knit. The step-by-step instructions help you follow the instructions and start to understand how to crochet/knit create any pattern. If you are struggling with either of them, the video can give you tutorial instruction, which can be helpful. I did take that video tutorial on how to crochet the purl pattern by studying the video tutorial many times, which is very helpful.

This is the plain stitch in crochet, which often shapes up the group of any crochet project.

1. Create a slipknot and connect to crochet hook near hook end to cling to the right hand.
2. Clasping yarn in the left hand, and shifting hook from left to right under the yarn, build up one loop of yarn at a time before attracting loop on the hook, and letting the exiting loop on the hook to slide over the new one, and off the tip of the hook.
3. Recreate until you have the wished number of chains. When spun toward the front, each chain will appear in a V-shaped loop. Count the loops to consider the number of chains, but do not add up the loop on your hook.

Working a double crochet stitch (dc)

1. Attach your crochet hook’s pointy tip into the second giving ch from your hook, and slide your hook from left to right under your yarn.
2. Catch this loop of yarn and drag it through your chain so that two loops are on your hook.
3. Catch another loop of yarn and drag through both of the loops on your hook, letting these worked loops to slide over the tip of your new loop and off the hook.

If creating a new row, make 1 ch before fitting your hook into the first st to set up the row’s first dc.

Working a treble crochet stitch (tr)

1. Tie up a loop of yarn around your hook before fitting the hook into the attached stitch (If making at the beginning of a chain, skip the first 3ch and fit your hook into the fourth; if jumping a new row, create 3ch before making your first tr into the second stitch along with the position). Bend your hook downwards, pointing towards your position.
2. Tie up another loop of yarn around your hook and drag through the position towards you. You should now have three loops of yarn on your hook.
3. Tie up another loop of yarn around your hook and drag through two loops. You will have two loops lasting.
4. Catch another loop of yarn and drag through the last two loops. This forms your stitch.

You will realize that you have finished any stitch when you only have one loop of yarn lasting on your hook. If in skepticism, pull your loop off your hook and straight out your position until you only have one lasting, and mostly blow it back on. Crochet is pretty stable and lifts well to being free when you need to go back a step or two.

The plain thing to knit is a scarf, or other flat thing, like a dishcloth. The plain stitch is to knit garter stitch (all knit stitches on both sides). Relocating up from there, barely harder will be to learn to purl, so you can knit “stockinette stitch” (knit one side, purl the other).

• Give out on 28 stitches using your favorite give out on layout.
• Row one: *Knit 2, purl 1. Repeat from * to the last stitch, knit 1.
• Row two: Purl 1, *knit 2, purl 1. Repeat from * to end.
• Repeat for pattern until you almost spurn out of yarn, or about 72 inches, or to your wished length.
• Chain off. Cut yarn leaving a 6 inch tail. With yarn or tapestry needle, weave in ends.
